Yarisel Mendez Limon is a sweet, kind, compassionate student with a lot of passion for Collinsville High School. Yarisel is very involved at CHS and her dedication to her school is appreciated by all who come in contact with her. Her peers all had great things to say about her including one of her close friends, John Riley. John Riley bragged on her excellent ability to play the saxophone and her ability to spread laughter wherever she goes. He mentioned that she values having fun with her friends and went on to say, “I would like to thank her for being one of the first friends I made when I moved to Collinsville. She’s a great person and if you’re not friends with her you should be.”
Not only is Yarisel a genuinely good person, but she is also a great student-athlete. She had a fantastic cross country season this year. The Girls Cross Country Coach, Ms. White stated, “She showed up each race, pushed herself, and brought her time down by 5 minutes for the year. She juggled band and cross country practices and she excelled in both. I can't imagine not having her on our team!” The band director, Mrs. Marcum also commented that Yarisel is an asset to the Collinsville High School marching Band, “Yarisel isn't the only band member that also participates in other sports, but she is the only member whose sport is going on simultaneously during marching season. Her dedication to both extra curricular activities is unmatched! She would literally run during XC practice and then run over to the band practice field and finish out with us. DEDICATION! Yarisel also participated in the Jacksonville State University Band Day on September 21st. She was one of 1,000 other high school band kids that got to play on the field with the Marching Southerners during halftime! It was a very long and HOT day and she never complained once!”
Yarisel is an athlete, a gifted member of the band, and she is also involved in clubs at school such as The Panther Press. Whenever an article needs to be written she is quick to take on the task and begins investigating to get the most accurate information. She takes constructive criticism well and uses it to push herself to become an even better writer. She truly enjoys writing articles and shedding light on all the great things going on at Collinsville High School.
As Yarisel does so much for the school and everything she is involved with, The Panther Press wants to take the time to acknowledge her and all she does. Yarisel is a great example of a student that is involved and gives her all in everything she does. She is a role model for her peers and a breath of fresh air to her teachers. We are so proud of you Yarisel! Keep up the great work!
