Collinsville 4th Grade Students Explore Alabama's Rich History in Montgomery

This school year, the fourth-grade students of Collinsville have embarked on an enlightening journey through the annals of Alabama history. Their studies ended with an exciting and educational tour of Montgomery, the state's capital, where they had the unique opportunity to witness firsthand the places and people that have shaped Alabama’s past and present. The highlight of their visit was a stop at the Alabama State Capitol, a building steeped in historical significance. Here, the students were warmly welcomed by State Representative Ginny Shaver, who took time out of her busy schedule to meet with them on the House floor. Adding to the excitement of the day, the students
were joined by a very special guest, Governor Kay Ivey.
The governor graciously posed for a photo with the students, creating a memorable moment that will surely be cherished by the students. This encounter not only thrilled the students but also reinforced the lessons they had learned about leadership and public service. Throughout their tour, the students explored various historical sites and landmarks in Montgomery, each contributing to their growing appreciation of Alabama's rich cultural heritage. This educational trip to Montgomery has undoubtedly enriched the students' understanding of Alabama history, providing them with experiences that extend beyond the classroom.
