Mrs. Godshall is a huge attribute to the staff at Collinsville High School. She holds her students to the highest standard. Some of her students even claim she shows them “tough love,” and they realize that she is just pushing them to give their best effort in everything they do. Educators are always looking out for their students, and some, like Mrs. Godshall, take that beyond the four walls of their classroom.

As a dedicated Auburn Tigers fan, Mrs. Godshall went to San Antonio Texas this year, to cheer for the basketball team that made it all the way to the final four. While strolling down the street one afternoon, Mrs. Godshall felt led to go in the opposite direction that she and her friend had originally planned to venture. Mrs. Godshall was aware that a 22-year-old man with Down Syndrome and Autism, and was also from Alabama, was missing and fortunately she listened when God changed her direction. As she walked past Hotel Valencia she spotted CJ Keeter and got in touch with the correct people that led him to being reunited with his mother. Mrs. Godshall stayed with CJ and even let him use her phone to talk to CJ’s mother until she arrived.

Yesterday, Mrs. Godshall was aware that the PTO had arranged for an ice cream truck to come and serve the staff to show appreciation for all of their hard work. Mrs. Godshall got more than ice cream though. She was surprised to see CJ Keeter working and waiting to greet her. He not only served Mrs. Godshall her ice cream, he also presented her with a t-shirt that said, “I’M SO EXTRA.”

If you have ever had the opportunity to work with Mrs. Devin Godshall, you know just how fitting the t-shirt is. Mrs.Godshall is truly one of a kind. She could have been more concerned with her own dealings in San Antonio, Texas on April 6th, but that would not have been the Devin Godshall that the Collinsville Community knows and loves. She goes over and beyond for everyone she comes in contact with and that is such a treasured quality, especially someone that works with the youth daily. Collinsville High School is grateful to have her amongst the wonder staff members!
