The athletic history runs deep at Collinsville High School, and the Panthers baseball team is looking to be an addition to it. After sweeping through area play and facing tough competition throughout the year, the Panthers are ready to to start their postseason run as they host Rogers Friday night at home. This is the second year in a row the baseball team has won their area and has had the privilege to host the first round of state playoffs. Collinsville has made it to the second round of state playoffs the past three years, but is striving to play at Jacksonville State University in the Championship series in a few weeks. The Panthers are hoping that their experience in big moments, and the hard work they have put in over the last four years will propel them to the next level.

Assistant Coach Teddy Helms is expecting greatness out of his Panther team this year. When asked about his expectations for state playoffs he replied, “This year’s playoffs are exciting because we are a mature team that has the talent to push further than we have in the past. If our mental preparation is on target I feel really good about progressing deep in the playoffs! I appreciate what our seniors have done over these last four seasons and look forward to their leadership going forward.”

The baseball team appreciates all the community support they have received this season, and would love to see a big crowd at Homer Nance Friday evening. Be on the lookout for some new hair -dos.
