Last year, the Collinsville High School’s baseball team made it to the second round of the play-offs for the second year in a row. This year the team has great aspirations to go even further, and the new baseball field renovations have been a great motivation. At Collinsville, we take great pride in our school and other facilities. A lot of effort, dedication, and hard work is contributed to ensure our students and athletes have the best that we can offer. The players are able to see how supported they are by the community. The Board of Education, the Sheriff’s office, The Athletic Club and even some of the community members and parents donated money and their time to see that the field received a proper make-over. The baseball team also worked hard with various fundraisers to contribute to the renovation. In addition to a sharp backstop that will be installed shortly, the field received a new scoreboard, a new floor for the press box and even a new sound system.
While the field looks so much better and we are proud of the progress that has been made, we are not finished yet. There are future plans for a black fence to replace the one currently there. There has even been talk about a field house being built in the near future. Next summer, there are also plans to renovate the softball field as well! We are very excited about the upcoming season on our newly renovated field!
