Before the season started the Collinsville Lady Panthers had set a few goals for their upcoming season which they were really excited about. Becoming area champions was one of them. The day we had to play Whitesburg kept getting closer and closer. With this day coming up, so did our nerves and excitement. Yesterday April 1st Collinsville faced Whiteburg for the area championship game. The first time that they had faced each other they went 0-0 for the entire game, and had to go into PKs which is where the Collinsville Lady Panthers ended up winning 4-3.
Everyone knew that this was going to be a hard fought game and that both teams were going to want to win but it was going to come down to who wanted it more and worked for it more. The first half started and both were playing hard but Whiteburg got a goal and were then up 1-0. Half time came and we got it together locked in and went out to the second half playing even harder. We got a freekick which was taken by Senior Captain, Camila Garcia Nieves, and put in the net by Junior, Melanie Cantor Cornejo. This now put us in the position of being tied 1-1. Minutes later Camila scored the other goal to put the game away 2-1 which was assisted by Lili Mann. The game ended and the Collinsville Lady Panthers were now area champs for the 2nd time in their program history.
