This month's staff member of the month is Lydia Peek, Collinsville's Elementary Principal. Panther Press Editor-in-Training Hannah Allen sat with Ms. Peek to find out more about her.
HA: How long have you worked for Collinsville High School?
LP: I have worked 9 years as a teacher and now 2 as the elementary principal.
HA: Do you have another job or side hustle?
LP: No hobbies, just school , school , school!
HA: What life path would you have taken if you weren’t at Collinsville?
LP: I could see myself doing real estate or interior design.
HA: What has been the most challenging part of your job?
LP: Finding a way to reach and motivate kids that are hard to get through.
HA: What has been your favorite part of the job?
LP: Seeing the kids grow and learn as they get older.
HA: What is your favorite food?
LP: Pizza
HA: What is your favorite hobby?
LP: Spending time with family , shopping , going to church , and time at the beach.
HA: What is your favorite movie and/or TV show?
LP: The golden girls and crime shows in the past.
HA: What is your favorite type of music?
LP: Most music genres ( stuck on Teddy Swims)
HA: Have you always known you wanted to be a principal?
LP: No, my first few years I would have never thought, but slowly it became a goal
HA: How do you keep up with everything you need to remember?
LP: Sticky notes, calendar , and the notes in my phone.
HA: If you were stuck on an island, which principal would you want to be with you?
LP: Both, because Mr. Crawford is resourceful and could get us out of a bind and I would take Mrs. Osborn because she’d keep me laughing.
