Senior night is something that most athletes experience. Senior night here in Collinsville is something that everyone remembers! At Collinsville, we enjoy senior night the most, because everyone knows everyone, and we support each other like families often do. It’s a night to celebrate the athletes achievements, reflect on their journey, and give insight to what their future holds.
Senior night here in Collinsville begins with a ceremony before the game. This is the moment where every senior gets recognition by their coaches, teammates, and supporters. Every senior will be introduced individually, accompanied by their parents or someone who the athlete chooses to share the moment with, and the seniors receive a special memento such as flowers, their team jersey, or other gifts. The gym is decorated with posters, banners, and pictures of the seniors throughout their athletic career.
On October 1st, the senior volleyball players were honored in this tradition. As a senior volleyball player, this game was important to me. During the game, emotions run high for every senior who steps onto the court for one last time. The support you receive from teammates and the crowd is palpable, and every play feels significant. It's a time to savor every play, every serve, and every block, knowing that this chapter of your life is coming to an end. After the game we enjoyed the gifts, food, and gratitude from our team.
Senior night is not just about looking back: but it's also about looking ahead. It’s an opportunity to share your experiences and wisdom with the younger players who will continue the legacy of the team. “I have high expectations for the team next year,” Chloe Davis states. “We will achieve whatever comes before us and the seniors have set that tone for us”. We have a motto at Collinsville, “Once a panther, always a panther.” Being a panther has a lot to do with the person we will become beyond high school. As we move on to new challenges and opportunities, the lessons we have learned and the friendships we have made will stay with us, shaping who we are and who we will become. Thank you Collinsville High School, coaches, and team mates for six wonderful years of volleyball.
